COMMUNITY MESSAGING SYSTEM - (CMS) Now, thanks to a computer messaging system, the Police have a way of contacting you quickly and easily regarding either an appeal about a particular crime in your area or to pass on information to help you protect yourselves from crime. The system allows you to choose the best time of day for us to call and if there is no answer, our system will try to reach you later and it is also possible for us to leave the message on your answering machine. Information from the public helps us in the fight against crime and many crimes have been solved because people have responded to police appeals for information. You are our eyes and ears and we need you to help make our community a safer place. We are trying to sign up as many members of the community as possible to this system so I am writing to you today to invite you to join. If you have already signed up to CMS, please mention this to any members of staff, councillors or members of the public you know. If you haven't signed up and wish to join you can either print out the Community Messaging Registration Form from the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary website (www.devon-cornwall.police.uk) and go to Get Involved down the left hand side, call at your local Police Station or contact me and I will forward a form to you. When completed, sign the form and post to your local Community Messaging Office at Barnstaple Police Station, North Walk, BARNSTAPLE, Devon EX31 1DU or return to me. If you have
any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me
