THE SHEBBEAR HISTORY PROJECT –
CREATING A COMMUNITY DIGITAL RESOURCE
We are delighted to announce that on 27th March 2025, the Shebbear History Project launched a new website dedicated to the heritage of the parish.
The community-led Shebbear History Project was originally conceived during the dark days of the Covid-19 Lockdown when records relating to the village started to be gathered in both paper and digital form. The intention was to create an online community heritage resource for current and former residents of the parish which has been achieved with the launch of this website.
Initially, a limited selection of material will be available but new items will be continually added – so watch this space for updates!
Alongside the new website, a further ambition for the Project is to find a space to safely store and display a collection of tangible archives relating to Shebbear which will have regular open access for the local community
The Shebbear History Project would like to thank Councillor James Morrish (Devon County Council) for supporting the project via the Locality Budget Funding Grant, which made the creation of the dedicated website a possibility.
The website can be found at the link below. Hopefully people will be inspired to step forward with donations of memories, photographs, documents, absolutely anything that represents our shared history, or can give some time to support the work of the Project.
