Hatherleigh and District Rotary Club Taking
in Shebbear & Buckland Filleigh but meets in the BRIDGE INN Hatherleigh
at 7.30 pm Mondays excluding bank holidays. |
January
2011 As many
of you know I am one of 20 Rotarians at our Hatherleigh and District club.
Our Village is well represented with a number of members coming from both
Shebbear and Buckland Filleigh. I was one of the founder members some
14 years ago and president 2000/1 and 2005/6. We all extend an invitation
to those who would wish to visit us on a Monday evening at our regular
meeting to see the good work and friendship we share. Many many thousands
of pounds have been raised. Our very own village has benefited from donations
not least £500 previously for the skate / BMX area at the village hall.
Previously Little Bears pre school and more along with Devon Air Ambulance,
Childrens Hospice etc, to name but a few. A recent festival raised £10.000
and was shared out between local charities. We are a dual gender club
and ladies too have taken up the challenge (perhaps 2 more could hit us
by storm) The first visit is free including a meal although we won't mind
if you pay. We welcome new members. A number of us share transport and
the reasonably priced meals are really good at the BRIDGE INN Hatherleigh.
One of us would pick up and return you, saving that initial lonely walk
in. Dear
Neighbours, How it
all works. Hopefully this will spur on more of you to do the same. Please do remember this scheme and let us do some good with your cast-offs. If you're uncertain if its of value to us then please give me a call because every little helps. We can also collect in some instances. Paperwork advice for Swansea is given in order that you avoid fixed penalties etc. Occasionally a re-useable car is donated (usually though from one of my customers who is upgrading, so thanks to those people, you know who you are). I then retail it, thereby raising more than scrap value. This why the total raised has jumped up! Yours in gratitude Andy Tucker (Rosehill Garage) Rosehill Garage Please could anyone wishing to help with my Rotary fund-raising project read on . I will try to turn this into cash for charity. ALL PROFIT GOES TO THIS PROJECT . So far several people have already donated cars and I have recycled them through contacts for thousands of pounds .
